Electroplating

Electroplating processes are used to protect metal components from abrasion and corrosion and to improve material properties such as electrical and thermal conductivity. BWB has a flexible, high-performance specialty electroplating facility for small and medium quantities for applications in mechanical engineering, medical technology, electrical engineering, the textile and food industries, and aviation.

Technical advantages

Galvanic coatings offer numerous technical advantages. They protect against corrosion, wear and erosion, increase the hardness and strength of materials and improve the conductivity of electrical components.

Chemical nickel plating

BWB offers chemical nickel in the high phosphorus range. The so-called high-phos layers are non-magnetic and easily solderable. These chemical nickel coatings are particularly hard, with a hardness of 500-550 HV, which can be increased up to 1000 HV by heat treatment. If required, the layers can be applied true to size (+/- 2 μm) and within two working days (48h express service).

Tin plating

Copper and brass can be protected from oxidation by a layer of tin. Tin plating is often used in the textile and food industries to reduce friction. Tin is tasteless and harmless to health.

Silver and gold plating

BWB specializes in the production of functional coatings to improve the electrical conductivity of components. Gold and silver layers are applied by electroplating, avoiding metallic brighteners to minimize electrical resistance. Gold is used in particular where there are increased requirements for tarnish and corrosion protection, for example as a final layer in optics and electrical engineering.
