The architecture of the Schulstrasse apartment building is an answer to the question of what living space away from the centers can look like. The result was apartments with simple, large rooms, high doors and a wooden arbor. The materials are robust and durable.
On the project, the architects discovered the potential of tinsmithing for architectural expression. Both the copper gutters and the green anodised window frames give the building a natural liveliness. This is also due to the characteristic property of Permagreen surfaces, whose appearance changes with changing viewing angle and position of the sun.
The quality of this architectural design was accordingly recognized with the “best architects 22 Gold” award. It is also noteworthy that with a total sum of less than 10 million francs, almost forty apartments were built.
The Schulstrasse apartment building is also a very special project for BWB Surface Technology. The Permagreen process from Color Collection 01 was used for the first time in this project.
